Board names CHC President and SBVC Interim President

The Board of Trustees of the San Bernardino Community College District (District) named Dr. Cheryl Marshall as the new President of Crafton Hills College (CHC) and Dr. Glen Kuck as the Interim President for San Bernardino Valley College at their regular meeting on December 13. 

Dr. Marshall began serving as the Interim President of CHC after the retirement of President Gloria Macίas Harrison in June.  Dr. Kuck, the Associate Vice Chancellor of Technology and Educational Support Services is interim president because there was no successful candidate from the national search that ended this month. The District will embark on a search for a permanent president early next year.

Chancellor Bruce Baron said, “I am looking forward to working with both Dr. Marshall and Dr. Kuck as we start a new academic semester and a new calendar year in January.  Both of these individuals are innovative, creative leaders, with impressive backgrounds who are dedicated to student success. They are positive, hard-working and will work well with the various shareholders on their respective campuses.”

The San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) installed newly elected Board of Trustees members Gloria Macίas Harrison, Dr. Kathleen (Katy) Henry and Nickolas W. Zoumbos, and re-elected Trustee John Longville at their regularly scheduled meeting on December 13. They also installed the new San  Bernardino Valley College student trustee Ferny Arana Garcia.

In addition, the Board elected Trustee Dr. Donald Singer to serve as Board President, Trustee John Longville as Vice President and Trustee Donna Ferracone as Clerk. The Trustees will serve in those offices for two years.

Presidential Candidate Forums Set for SBVC and CHC

Public forums for the candidates under consideration for the top leadership positions at San Bernardino Valley College and at Crafton Hills College have been scheduled. Each school will have two public forums and the forums will be streamed live on the web. The names of the finalists for each position will be announced on Monday, November 19, and the media will be provided with the biography and photo of each candidate at that time.

KVCR TV-FM to Feature Program on the ATPC

 KVCR TV-FM will premiere a one-hour documentary, “The World Through Your Eyes” about the Alternate Text Production Center (ATPC) braille training partnership with Ironwood State Prison on October 24th at 9:00 p.m. and again on Nov. 7th at 7:00 p.m. This is a state-wide community college grant program managed by the San Bernardino Community College District, and directed Dr. Glen Kuck, Associate Vice Chancellor. The film highlights a very successful, innovative and heart-warming partnership that benefits students with visual and other disabilities throughout the state, as well as the Ironwood residents. The program will be made available to other PBS affiliates in California and the film will be featured on the California Community College Chancellor’s Office website (cccco.edu).
