Human Resources FAQs

  • Can I fax in my Typing Certificate?

Yes, typing certificates can be faxed to 909-382-0173 or submitted to the Office of Human Resources by US Mail or personal delivery.

  • Can I fax my transcripts?

No.  Transcripts must be attached to the online job application.

  • Can I submit my resume and/or cover letter in person or by mail?

No. Resumes and cover letters must be electronically attached to your online application. Failure to attach these documents will result in an incomplete application and you will not be included in the applicant pool.

  • Do I have to come down to your office to pick up an application?

No, all applications are submitted online. The district does not accept paper applications.

  • Do I have to complete an application for each job?

No. Each type of position requires only one application. Once you complete an application you may use it for all jobs within that type. For example, if you complete a classified application, you can use that same application for each classified position for which you would like to apply.

  • I am a current employee of the district and would like to transfer into a position that is currently open for recruitment. What do I need to do?

In order to "transfer" into a new position, the open position must be the same classification as your current classification.  Any unit member may file for the vacancy by submitting written notice to the Human Resources Office within the noticed filing period.  Any unit member on leave or vacation may authorize his/her job representative to file on the unit member's behalf.  Unit members who apply for transfer, voluntary demotions, or "in-house or promotional only" recruitments shall be notified in writing whether they were or were not selected.  Your application will be considered before any external candidates.

  • If am a current employee of the district and I am applying for another position, do I have to include my transcripts?

Yes. You must submit all of the required documents for the position in order to be included in the applicant pool.

  • What is the turn-around time once I have turned in my application to get a response?

The time frame varies for each recruitment. You will be notified either by phone, US Mail, or email of your application status once a decision is made.

  • Where can I find the current employment opportunities within the district?

All available positions are now listed at the SBCCD Jobs Site at https://sbccd.org/careers.
