Asbestos Operation and Maintenance Program
Asbestos has been determined to be a naturally occurring carcinogen once used in a wide range of building products. The presence of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) and presumed ACM within a building does not, in and of itself, pose a hazard to human health. It is when ACM is disrupted that it can pose a health risk.
The primary purpose of this program is to reduce disruption of ACM and provide specific procedures for handling ACM should disruption occur. Additionally, the program defines general policy guidelines, controlled areas and materials, program administration responsibilities and specific technical procedures.
